Brass brush
Brass brush for nozzle cleaning and 3D printer maintenance
Keep your 3D printer in perfect condition with our brass cleaning brush. This handy tool is a must-have for any 3D printing enthusiast who wants to prevent clogging issues and ensure consistent print quality.
Thanks to its fine brass bristles, the brush effectively removes filament residue, baked-on plastic, and oxidation from both the nozzle and the hotend. Unlike steel brushes, brass is gentler on metal parts, minimizing the risk of scratching or damaging the nozzle’s surface.
Key benefits and uses:
- Effective nozzle cleaning: Easily removes debris from the nozzle, even in hard-to-reach areas.
- Hotend protection: Regular removal of plastic residue prevents burning and subsequent staining of prints.
- Long component lifespan: A clean nozzle means better heat transfer and smooth material flow.
- Wide range of applications: Ideal for maintaining all metal parts of a 3D printer, fine technical work, or model making.
How to properly clean a 3D printer nozzle? (Instructions)
For best results, we recommend cleaning the nozzle while it is hot. Follow these steps:
- Preheat the printer: Set the nozzle temperature according to the last material used (e.g., 200–220 °C for PLA, 240 °C for PETG). The heated plastic will soften and can be easily removed.
- Remove the filament: If possible, pull the filament out of the extruder to allow free access to the nozzle.
- Gentle cleaning: Hold the brush at a slight angle and clean the surface of the nozzle and hotend block with short, gentle strokes. Do not apply excessive force to avoid damaging the thermistor or heating element wiring.
- Flow Test: After mechanically cleaning the exterior, we recommend pushing a small piece of filament through to verify that the inside of the nozzle is clean.
Practical Tip: For maximum effectiveness, combine a brass brush with cleaning needles. While the brush takes care of the exterior, the needle loosens internal deposits in the nozzle channel.
Technical specifications:
- Bristle material: Brass (softer than steel, gentle on nozzles).
- Handle material: Durable plastic with an ergonomic grip.
- Intended use: Suitable for brass, copper, and stainless steel nozzles.
