Polymaker PolyCast™ Natural: A revolution in foundry and precision casting
Looking for a way to streamline metal casting production? Polymaker PolyCast™ is a unique filament designed specifically for investment casting. Forget expensive molds for wax patterns—with PolyCast™, you can print your model directly on your FDM printer, quickly and at a fraction of the cost.
Key benefits for foundry practice:
Residue-free burning: PolyCast™ evaporates almost completely during mold burning (ash content < 0.003%), ensuring clean and precise metal castings without defects.
Ash-Free™ technology: A special composition ensures that the material does not sublimate as aggressively as conventional plastics at high temperatures, protecting the mold from cracking.
Layer-Free™ smoothing: Thanks to the PVB base, prints can be easily polished with isopropyl alcohol (IPA) or in the Polymaker Polysher™ device. The result is a perfectly smooth surface without visible layers, which is also transferred to the final casting.
Excellent mechanical properties: PolyCast™ is stronger and more stable than PLA or ABS, allowing even large models to be printed without the risk of deformation.
Technical parameters and printing recommendations
Printing with PolyCast™ is very similar to printing with PLA, making it an affordable tool for any workshop.

How to achieve the best results?
Post-processing: To achieve a "mirror" finish, we recommend exposing the model to isopropyl alcohol (IPA) vapors. This will remove any layer lines that would otherwise be visible on the casting.
Storage and drying: PVB is very susceptible to moisture. For trouble-free printing, we recommend storing the filament in a dry box. If the material becomes damp (sputtering at the nozzle), dry it for 12 hours at 60 °C.
Mold preparation: PolyCast™ is designed to behave predictably during firing and minimize internal stresses in the shell mold.
Mechanical properties (in numbers):
Tensile strength: 37.5 ± 1.7 MPa
Tensile modulus: 1745 ± 151 MPa
Softening temperature (Vicat): 67 °C
Save weeks of development and thousands of dollars on molds. Polymaker PolyCast™ bridges the gap between digital design and traditional foundry casting.
