ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) is a proven engineering thermoplastic that excels in hardness, toughness, and high heat resistance.

Key material properties:

• High mechanical strength: Excellent resistance to impact, pressure, and mechanical stress.
• Thermal stability: Prints retain their shape and structural strength up to a temperature of around 90 °C.
• Excellent post-processing: ABS can be easily sanded, drilled, and machined. To achieve a mirror-smooth and cast appearance, the surface can be smoothed in acetone vapors.
• Versatile use: The surface of the material is an ideal base for further painting or the production of aesthetic covers and technical components.

Professional printing and recommendations:

ABS is a material for advanced users, as it requires specific printing conditions to eliminate the natural shrinkage of thermoplastics.

• Stable temperature (Enclosure): Due to its higher thermal expansion, we strongly recommend printing in a closed print chamber. This will prevent warping and delamination (cracking) of layers in larger objects.
• Bed adhesion: For reliable adhesion to the bed, we recommend using printing plates with a PEI surface or proven adhesion products (3DLAC, Magigoo).
• Working environment: Printing produces a slight odor typical of this material. We recommend printing in well-ventilated areas.
